Hello Murphies,
Today we are going to introduce you to three apps that really helped us in Australia and that we wished we had known before coming.
- Flatmates
When we first arrived in Australia, we had no idea how to find accommodation and we were struggling to dissociate the fake and real advertisements… Having a home where you feel good is really important especially when you are finding yourself in another country and know no one.
We thought that it would be so hard to find our « dream place » and I was constantly worried about it before coming to Australia… But it was until we discovered the app Flatmates.

Not only does this app help you to find suitable accommodation but it also gives you the opportunity to make some new friends. And honestly, as a newcomer in a country, who does not wish to meet amazing people to share your adventure with ? That is why we recommend to you Flatmates.
This app was designed for those looking for shared homes or simply looking for a flatmate. I’ve found the system really simple to use : you create a listing, search for your future home, and connect with people.
Flatmate provides two types of listing : the property listing is for the people who offer a room in their home ; they have to put some pictures and details about the other flatmates who live there. And the person listing where you can introduce yourself by giving some details about your personality, your lifestyle and what kind of place you are looking for.
What we found special about this app is that it offers the possibility to « team up ».. it means that you can look through other people’s profiles and if you feel that their personality would be a good match with yours, you can contact them by asking to team up and find a home together (sometimes it can be easier as some places offer a 2 people’s room). That’s a good way to make some new friends who share the same interests as you.
Actually, we found ourselves really lucky ! After only one hour of searching for our perfect home, we contacted someone who offered an amazing place in our price range (it was almost unbelievable) and we could get the apartment the next day after finishing the inspection. (Be careful, it is really important to inspect the place to be sure that it matches the description !)
We are happy now to say that this place is our home.
2. Everyday Rewards
Everyday Rewards was an app introduced by our friends living in Australia that we definitely recommend that you download when arriving here.
While doing groceries together, we were surprised that at the moment they had to pay, they scanned this app and could get a discount of 10 dollars on their buying! That’s why we immediately asked them how could it be possible and they mentioned about Everyday Rewards app. If you travel to Australia with a small budget like us, it definitely worths it.

This app allows you to collect one point for each dollar that you spend in a shop, which can be later recovered in Woolworths and its partners including Big W, BWS, … You can even convert them to Qantas Points (an Australian airline company !). This money-off can be used each time you accumulate 2000 points.
Isn’t it so cool ?
3. EatClub
Eating delicious food is one of our favorite hobbies and we have to admit that it can be quite expensive in Australia compared to our countries.
That’s why we want to talk to you about Eat Club, an Australian app that shows you nearby restaurants with free tables that offer last-minute deals.

How does it work ? You can enter in the search tab which kind of food you are most excited to eat and many restaurants will appear and show the type of discount they offer. You go enjoying the food with your loved ones and at the moment of paying, you will have to pay your bill with your EatClub Card and automatically the offer will be deducted from the total price. Sometimes the offer can be up to 50% including drinks !
Eating out in Australia has never been cheaper, so we definitely recommend it for food lovers who travel with a low budget.
